Protection
 ECBC technical staff research and develop protective equipment
such as masks, filtration systems and barrier materials to provide a level
of safety between individuals and contaminants. There are two types of
protection equipment, collective and individual. Individual protection
systems include masks that allow the wearer to operate in a contaminated
environment. Collective protection systems provide safe, protected shelters
and vehicle environments without the need for protective clothing.
